We are learning:
We want to understand:
We will achieve this by using:
We started our inquiry by thinking of how music is connected to technology.
We discussed how technology has affected music mostly in three ways:
We used this worksheet to analyse and understand how the flute changed throughout history and what are the reasons why these changes were introduced (Causation)
We have started to develop our instrumental skills using a very simple piece of technology: the recorder.
You can use this tutorial video to learn how to play "Apple Tree" using a reduced stave.
This is the score for Apple Tree and for three other songs. Remember the steps to learn to play a song:

We are using our creative thinking skills to apply our learning into a composition task.
Using the pentatonic scale and simple rhythms, we composed a jingle that we had to create, notate, play on the recorder and sing.
We explored how music can have a great impact on they way we perceived things. We discussed the key concepts "Change" and "Perspective" through this video, in which different music has been used to illustrate the same scene of a famous movie. We discussed how the different types of music made us watch the scene with different feelings.
Our final task was to become composers to create jingles to advertise a piece of technology we invented in class. This time we used a new piece of technology to create our pieces: the iPad App Garageband. The challenge was that we also had to write the structure of the piece we had created, including the instruments used, how they were structured and the elements that were present. This is the sample Mr Fernando gave us to practise our skills:
