Our main focus during this unit is to explore the Connection between rhythm and words. Understanding this connection will help us to turn poems into songs.
We started by figuring out the rhythms of songs we already knew. Walking the pulse and clapping the words helped us identify these rhythms.
After figuring out the rhythms we used them to change one song by inventing new rhymes and changing the pitch. Each class changed the song in a different way.
We continued our inquiry by looking into how we could connect words, rhythm and pitch to turn a poem into a song.
