Before Sunrise does create a storm in your heart. Its an absorbing, beautiful, and realistic tale of romance and love that just blossoms in a span of night/evening. It lets you slip into oblivion and lead you on a fantastic fantasy trip. A trip where one wishes to remain anonymous, away from the hustle and bustle of life, enjoying mundane or ordinary things like talking, roaming around, etc., with that someone.
As Wold is transitory, so is love. Making most of those little moments provides an infinite and eternal experience that stays with you forever.
This is what Before Sunrise has shown us.
Jesse and Celine's ( Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy) bonding is carefully yet so effortlessly chronicled in a period of something as meagre as evening or night. It feels like one of those moments of pure magic and bliss that you would love to fall for, triggering a storm in your heart for those moments.
Jesse, An American, and Celine, a French student returning to Paris, have a few conversations on a train in France. Jesse persuades him to get down in Vienna and roam around the city for a night to be separated the following day. As Celine and Jesse sign up for something weird, it turns out to be a lifetime moment (Both for them and us).
Before Sunrise, let the star cast do the " talking" (I meant the conversation). Both Jesse and Celine's conversation or talk is the crux of their relationship. Meeting as strangers, they talk their way out and know each other closer. Conversations about their personal life from the lens of philosophy, with their innermost thoughts being fleshed out.
This is where we end up loving them as to how often you see a movie where the couple shares or develops sizzling chemistry over talks or mere conversations. They have a perfect equation as they share thoughts on everything that strikes them—a heartful exchange of one's desires, fears, and philosophies which transcend everything in this world.
Their innocent, animated, and carefree side is displayed as the relationship blossoms among them! It's devoid of those grandeur moments of romance. The couple creates a beautiful world for themselves where they just let their honesty and craziness churn out some iconic intimate moments.
As they open up about themselves to the other, the clock is ticking, knowing that these beautiful moments have a certain lifespan. They know and fall for each other and live an infinite experience in a finite world where magic does not last forever. As Jesse says to Celine, "It's the transitory world, which makes specific date and time very important.
These two strangers create an infinite, magical period of love anonymous to worldly ways. They seize the moment then and there. As they have to part ways and return to this finite world, those eternal experiences leave them with memories to cherish. Their bittersweet parting comes with hope and promises that both of them will sign up for this endless adventure soon in the future.
Ethan Hawke and Julie Delphy are stunning and charming as Jesse and Celine. They share organic and Sizzling chemistry, which lets you slip into their fanciful romantic saga. Before Sunrise has a poignant, moving love story at heart. One can wish for that eternal experience, cherishable memories that offer a proper completion in your circle of relationship with that someone.
