Music Video Experience

From the beginning, we knew that producing a music video would be a daunting task. We knew our journey would be full of challenges and with the mounting pressure of the end of our Masters, we were apprehensive but still, our spirits were high. A quick meeting with my teammates revealed a song one of them had in their mind. It was ‘Gandi Si Building’, sung and written by Mehdi Maloof. After that, there was a flurry of movement as we got into writing down our screenplay, figuring out our locations and actors amongst other things as we juggled other assignments.

The video chronicled our protagonist’s journey, who has led a shielded life. As he enters the hostel, he is met with a culture shock of epic proportions. Throughout the video, we showed the common elements of the hostel life, which are funny and at times heart-rendering and unique in their own way. Over time, the protagonist adjusts into a routine of his hostel life.

Making a music video was definitely an enriching experience along with a learning curve and helped in developing camaraderie between the whole department as everyone helped each other in their music videos.
