Epcot Snacks on a Budget: Top 5 Options for Under $8

By Jon Self 11/10/23

Epcot at Walt Disney World has become known as the eating and drinking theme park. Which snacks are the best ones to enjoy at Epcot that cost under eight dollars? We visit Epcot often and tried numerous snacks to make this list. When enjoying a Walt Disney World theme park day, you will (eventually) get hungry. Fortunately, Epcot offers a vast array of dining options.

What if you need a snack to tide you over until your advanced dining reservation? Maybe you plan to meet someone for a meal elsewhere but are starting to feel “hangry?” What should you purchase to eat since you probably do not want to spend a large amount of money?

With recent price increases across Walt Disney World, finding a cost-effective snack has become a bit more challenging. However, Xavier and I went on a snack adventure at Epcot, searching for the top five snacks for under eight dollars at Epcot. Also, since the festival booths change seasonally, we decided to skip those snack options. The following list includes what we came up with.

School Bread at Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe- $4.79

Though we tried several items from the Norway area of the World Showcase, we decided that the School Bread (Skoleboller or Skol Bread) makes a top snack. This decision surprised us since coconut makes up a key component of this sweet treat. The School Bread consists of a sweet cardamom roll filled with custard and topped with a powdered sugar glaze and sweetened shredded coconut.

We have eaten this snack on many occasions before our latest eating-around-the-world adventure.

On the most recent occasion, we found the School Bread fresh, not too sweet, and the coconut (that some do not enjoy) blended well with the other ingredients. The custard filling failed to make a large mess, as can happen with these types of treats. Still, the custard provided just the right amount of flavor without overpowering the rest of this bakery item.

Liege Waffle at Connections Eatery - $5.49

Connections Eatery, a quick service option in the World Celebration area of Epcot, serves as an upgrade to dining at Epcot. This quick service option shares a large dining area with the current Epcot version of Starbucks, Connections Café.

This quick service location within Epcot draws crowds. The standard-looking quick service style menu with burgers and pizza should not excite anyone on the surface. However, many of the burgers, pizzas, and salads here qualify as above-average quick service quality, especially for a theme park.

Also, Connections Eatery provides a more modern-looking setting and a signature sweet treat, the Liege Waffle. This freshly prepared waffle consists of brioche dough with pearl sugar. That waffle receives strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce on top.

The thick brioche waffle remains soft. The waffle stands up to the components placed on top of it. This waffle also tends to soak up the goodness of the fruit and chocolate. This dessert will not overwhelm you with the sweetness factor. Still, this qualifies as a proper dessert.

The fantastic combination of textures elevates this dessert. The pearl sugar provides a crunchy kick and does not melt away as you eat this.

Caramel Butter Bar at Karamell-Küche - $5.29

Karamell-Kuche, in the Germany area of the World Showcase, offers many sweet treats to enjoy. This place features Werther’s® Original® Caramel candies.

During a recent visit, we ordered the Caramel Butter Bar here. In fairness, we could have chosen several menu items as good snacks from this location. We have never tasted anything bad at Karamell-Kuche. For a sweet treat, this location makes a great choice.

This place also offers one more significant advantage over other snack options at Epcot. Since Karamell-Kuche is technically a merchandise location, Walt Disney World annual passholders receive a 20% discount on most items sold here.

The Caramel Butter Bar combines a thin layer of caramel, some shortbread, and lots of buttery, sugary goodness. This treat will make your sweet tooth happy.

Quiche Lorraine at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in the French Pavilion - $7.95

This quick service dining option and bakery provides some good value with French-themed cuisine. Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie presents guests with some excellent dining options. This place brings us our final two Epcot snacks.

The first one may not seem like a snack. Still, the Quiche Lorraine offers a savory snack or light meal for under eight dollars. This quiche consists of ham and gruyere cheese as the main ingredients. We found this quiche provided a sensible amount of creaminess. It avoided the potential overbaking issues seen with many quick service dishes like this. During our most recent trip to Epcot, we loved this quiche - “Nuff said!”

Full Sized Baguette - $3.95

If your group has one or more people who need a snack, this makes a great option to help your budget. Maybe a freshly baked French baguette does not sound impressive. Nevertheless, this serves as a quantity over quality snack. By no means are these baguettes bad. We enjoy them, especially with the butter that you get from this quick service option.

If a full baguette sounds like too much, you can choose the half-sized one for $2.75. We often recommend grabbing one of these during an early morning trip to Epcot. These also make great, cost-effective snacks for people to share. Parents love it when we tell them about these to keep the kids fed as they go from one Epcot attraction to another.
