Best Disney's Hollywood Studios Snacks on a Budget

10/27/23 By Jon Self

Disney’s Hollywood Studios has gone from a theme park with limited decent quick-service dining options to a place with many quality options. Based on that, what are the top five Disney’s Hollywood Studios snacks for under eight dollars?

Xavier and I recently went on a trip around Disney’s Hollywood Studios, looking for the top snacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We placed an emphasis on snacks under eight dollars. With recent price increases across Walt Disney World, that task brought some challenges to finding good snacks for under eight dollars. In fact, we did cheat a little with one of our selections. Please forgive us. However, this list needed another savory item, so we stretched the parameters slightly.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers many sweet and savory snacks to choose from. Which of Disney’s Hollywood Studios snacks should you choose?

Carrot Cake Whoopie Pie at the Trolley Car Café- $4.99

As you enter Disney's Hollywood Studios, a well-disguised Starbucks location will appear on your right. Guests find the usual Starbucks options at this location within Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In addition, some items more unique to Walt Disney World exist on the menu here. For example, a Graveyard Cupcake can be found during the Halloween season at Trolley Car Café.

Still, our top snack at Hollywood Studios suggestion involves the Carrot Cake Whoopie Pie at Trolley Car Café. This signature treat has gone through some changes over the years. The current version involves two fluffy cake-like pieces holding in the whoopie pie filling. This treat used to offer a more cookie-like texture. The current version lighted things up a bit.

We found this snack enjoyable. However, we advise getting some napkins and a shady spot to enjoy it. If you are not careful, the cake will come off onto your hands as you eat it. This makes a solid sweet treat like other top snacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can even share the Carrot Cake Whoopie if you are the type of person who shares food.

Raspberry Lunch Box Tart at Woody's Lunch Box- $4.79

Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Andy’s backyard from the “Toy Story” movies comes alive in Toy Story Land. This place serves a variety of comfort-style sandwiches and covered tater tots.

The Lunch Box Tarts at Woody’s Lunch Box should remind some of us of simpler times. It might remind you of when you thought toaster pastries were so delicious. In fairness, some of is still feel that way. Woody’s Lunch Box offers its version. The Raspberry Lunch Box Tart consists of a raspberry marmalade stuffed pastry coated in a strawberry fondant and crispy pearls.

These box tarts offer a lighter, sweeter treat. While these do not taste like the toaster pastries you buy at the grocery store, the flavors work nicely. These will most likely not become your favorite food item at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Still, for under five dollars, these make a great snack.

Outpost Popcorn Mix- Kat Saka's Kettle in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge - $6.49

If you have ever visited a theme park with Xavier, you should know he has a bit of a sweet tooth. We respect that. Nevertheless, some savory items are needed to balance this list. Also, since we had many Disney’s Hollywood Studios snacks in one day to compile this list, more savory items were required to maintain a sense of a healthy diet.

However, we only partially fulfilled that requirement with this top snack at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Outpost Popcorn Mix at Kat Saka’s Kettle provides a mix of slightly spicy and sweet flavors. This popcorn features many colors. Apparently, in Batuu in the Star Wars universe, popcorn looks a different color than on planet Earth.

Toffee and Coconut Blondie at Catalina Eddies   $4.99

When we think of good dining choices at a Walt Disney World theme park, we rarely think of the “puffy” pizza. Even though we will discuss that distinctive “DiGiorno” style pizza again later, we found a good, sweet snack at Catalina Eddies.

Catalina Eddies is on your left in the open-air food court area as you walk towards The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.  This place primarily serves the infamous Disney “puffy” pizza that provides as much crust as anything else with your circular pizza.

Still, we ordered the Gooey Toffee and Toasted Coconut Blondie topped with salted caramel buttercream. This sweet treat comes with a menu title that overpromises. Nevertheless, the merging of flavors creates a decent blondie. We thought that unless you despise coconut, then you will enjoy this combination of sweet flavor. We found this treat not to be overly sugary sweet.

Based on its location, this makes a good place to hang out if your friends are riding Rock “n” Roller Coaster or The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. So, if you are a ride chicken regarding those rides or need a break, this blondie makes a good snack for your theme park day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Do you remember the talk of Disney puffy pizza? Well, we have another suggestion for you on our top Hollywood Studios snacks list. Based on the sweet tooth lean of this list, we needed to sneak in an additional savory snack. This leads to our final selection.

Kids’ Meal Cheese Pizza from PizzeRizzo - $7.59

Yes, we gave in to the pressure and decided that a kid’s kid-sized piece of puffy pizza and sides makes a good snack choice. In fairness, this makes a good choice for under eight dollars. yes, we had to go to the much maligned PizzeRizzo. Sure, the pizza will not impress you much. However, it comes with a strawberry-flavored yogurt smoothie, a Cuties® Mandarin orange, and a choice of small low-fat milk or a small DASANI® bottled water.

Also, you can make some substitutions to the side. However, as the sides are listed, this meal meets the Disney nutrition guidelines for a complete meal.

How often do you hear about a snack for under eight dollars at a theme park with something that passes as nutrition? I think that does not happen very often.

This top snack qualifies based on quantity, not quality, unlike other snacks with great flavor. However, if you order this for a snack, you could have some “less healthy” food to balance it out later. You are saving money and planning for a fun theme park dessert or meal later. That sounds good to us!

What do you think of the list of top snacks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that we came up with? Would you be willing to try these during your next trip to Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Let us know in the comments below.
