Michela Palumbo, who recently concluded the Doctoral Program in "Innovation Management of Agri-food Systems of the Mediterranean Region" (Tutor: Prof. Giancarlo Colelli and Dr. Maria Cefola) was awarded the "Guarnieri-Montel Prize", an event which was carried out as part of the "5° Workshop sull’Innovazione nella Meccanica e nell’Impiantistica Applicata ai Biosistemi Agro-alimentari e Forestali”, an event dedicated to new PhDs in memory of Gian Luca Montel, a researcher at the beginning of a promising career in a brand new university in the South and Adriano Guarnieri, an established and recognized master of Agricultural Mechanics in one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the world.

Michela’s thesis on “Computer vision system for non-destructive and contactless evaluation of quality traits in fresh rocket leaves (Diplotaxis tenuifolia L.)” was carried out within Project “SUS&LOW”.

On Sep. 06,  Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW during the seminar on “Trends in Postharvest Handling of Fresh Fruit and Vegetables” given to students and Faculty members of Meijo University in Nagoya, Japan. 

On Aug. 20,  Prof. M.L. Amodio presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW with a poster presentation on “Assessing the performance of Hyperspectral Imaging and FT-NIR for prediction of internal constituents of tomatoes" within the NIR 2023 Conference held in Innsbruck, Austria, August 20-24, 2023. 

Project SUS&LOW “Sustaining Low-Impact Practices in horticulture through Non-destructive approach to provide more Information on Fresh produce History & Quality” (funded by MUR-PRIN2018) was presented yesterday within the “VII International Symposium on Applications of Modelling as an Innovative Technology in the Horticultural Supply Chain” in Potsdam, Germany.

A special session included 5 different contributions as oral presentations, plus 2 contributions were presented as Poster.

On Feb. 23, Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW with a keynote lecture on “Trends in Postharvest Handling of Fresh Fruit & Vegetables" in the "7th International Horticulture Conference" held in Multan, Pakistan as organized by the Pakistan Society for Horticultural Science.

Prof. M.L. Amodio presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW with the oral presentation on “Hyperspectral Imaging and FT-NIR Spectroscopy for Discrimination of Tomato Grown with Different Environmental Impact Practices" in the 8° Congress of the Postharvest Working Group of the Italian Society of Horticultural Science, held in Pescia (Italy), on 29-30 September 2022. In the same event Prof. G. Colelli gave an oral presentation on “Sustaining Low-impact practices in Horticulture through Non-destructive approach to Provide more Information on Fresh produce History & Quality (SUS&LOW)”. 

On July 12, Prof. M.L. Amodio presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW with the keynote lecture on “Recent Advances in Non-Destructive Quality Evaluation and Authentication of Fruits and Vegetables" in the 6th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GREEN AGRO-INDUSTRY AND BIOECONOMY" organized in Malang (Indonesia) from the University of Brawijaya.

On May. 30, Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW during the seminar on “R&D IN POSTHARVEST TECHNOLOGY IN ITALY” given to students and Faculty members of the Department of Horticulture in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. 

On Dec. 10, Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW with the talk on “Valorizzazione dei Prodotti Ortofrutticoli Freschi” in the “Workshop sul Cibo: le Proprietà Nutraceutiche delle Promizie di Vittoria” held in Vittoria (RG), Italy.

On Oct. 28, Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW in the Webinar on "Fruit and vegetables not only as food for health" organized by the University of Pisa. Title of Colelli's presentation was "Postharvest phase as an important crossroad for quality and sustainability."

On June. 18, Prof. Maria Luisa Amodio presented some of the ongoing activity and results obtained with Project SUS&LOW at the web-conference on "Digital technologies applied to baby-leaf" giving an invited  talk on “Hyperspectral Imaging to monitor the quality of rocket leaves from the field to the fork.”

On Jan. 28, Prof. G. Colelli presented some of the ongoing activity within Project SUS&LOW to more than hundred among students, scientists and industry representatives (with peaks exceeding 150) within the talk on "Advanced Postharvest Technology Research in Italy" in the "TEP WEBINAR SERIES #1" organized by the Fakultas Teknologi Pertanian of the Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia.

On Nov. 24, Prof. Maria Luisa Amodio presented some of the ongoing activity within Project SUS&LOW in the talk on “Is it possible to tell the past of the food we eat?” she gave a talk within the Workshop on “Biodiversity and Sustainability in Agriculture” held on-line and organized by the University of Foggia for the “La notte dei Ricercatori 2020.”

On November 2, Prof. Amodio lecture on “Non destructive quality evaluation and authentication of fruit and vegetables” is scheduled within the programme "Emerging Technologies in Postharvest Management and Value Addition of Horticultural Commodities.” 

Hassan Fazayeli and Michela Palumbo presented their PhD thesis works, which are related to SUS & LOW project, in the 2nd Joint Meeting of Agriculture-oriented PhD Programs (UniCT, UniFG and UniUd).
