Dr. Giovanni Attolico

Giovanni Attolico received the degree in Information Science from the University of Bari. He has worked on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence as research leader in a private company (Olivetti), as visiting researcher in the Vision and Modelling Group at the MediaLab (MIT) and in the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR), where he is currently senior researcher and leads the Multi-spectral and Hyperspectral Imaging Laboratory of STIIMA (Institute on Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing).

His research interests are in Signal and Image Processing, 3D Modelling, Sensory Processing and Interpretation, Robotics, Interactive and Multimodal Systems, Haptic Interfaces. He has scientifically leads research in research initiatives founded by public institution and by private companies. He is co-author of more than one hundred scientific papers on journals and proceedings of conferences and workshops and of an international patent on visual systems for event detection. He serves as scientific referee for the Italian Ministry of Research, for the Ministry of Development and for other public institutions.
