New Site and/or New Site Director
New Site and/or New Site Director
Step 1: Affiliation Agreement Check
If you are adding a new site to one of your courses, first check if an affiliation agreement is needed. See the Approach to Affiliation Agreements to make the determination.
In general, if the site is for a required course, an affiliation agreement is needed. If it is for an elective course, an affiliation agreement is not necessary.
If an affiliation agreement is needed, check with clsched@umn.edu to determine if the site is already covered under an existing agreement. If it is not yet covered, work with clsched@umn.edu to get one created.
Step 2: Request New Site Code
If you are adding a new site director, below are suggested steps:
Check that the new site director/lead has a faculty appointment with the Medical School. You can view this page for more information about faculty appointments, including how to request a faculty appointment for a new site director.
Set up a meeting between the course director and the new site director to discuss course expectations and to allow them to ask questions they may have.
You may also consider creating/sharing an informational Google site specifically for your preceptors such as the one the Psychiatry Clerkship has created.

Connect the new site director with your ACE.
Set the new site director up with any needed access to Medical School systems/dashboards.
Make any needed updates to your Canvas site or any other student-facing resources.
