Mentor Coordinators
Mentor Coordinators
We want to be welcoming and supportive to our new department coordinators and do what we can to help them succeed! You can help by volunteering as a mentor.
Mentor coordinators:
meet monthly with their mentee to have a conversation about what they are working on at that point in the year, how they do it, and to answer questions
serve as their mentee's go-to person for questions about how we do things or who to contact for help
We ask that mentor coordinators commit to mentoring their assigned mentee for at least six months, although if it is preferred, this can be extended.
You can volunteer by filling out this form.
When a new department coordinator is hired/requests a mentor, you will be contacted to confirm if you are interested in being matched with the new coordinator
Once you are matched, please reach out to our mentor lead, Alex Behrend, at behre213@umn.edu to set up a meeting with her. Alex will share some tips and resources for mentor coordinators
After meeting with Alex, please reach out to your assigned mentee to set up an introductory meeting and to plan out how the two of you will stay connected over the next year
