Venkat Tholakanahalli, M.D., FHRS
Venkat Tholakanahalli (thola001@umn.edu) is Director, Advance Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiology, Director, Left Atrial Appendage Closure Program, Director of Electrophysiology Laboratory, Associate Professor of Medicine and Staff Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Minneapolis VA Health Care System. Dr. Tholakanahalli completed his Cardiovascular diseases fellowship and Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at University of Minnesota and joined as Assistant Professor at Minneapolis VA Health Care System. He completed Sabbatical training at University of California, Los Angeles and established Complex Ablation program at Minneapolis VA Health Care System. He is a recipient of the Yang Wang lifetime achievement award for exceptional teaching. His main area of interest is complex ablations including ventricular tachycardia, intra-septal/intramural VT, newer therapies including neuromodulation and atrial fibrillation.
He is platinum enrollee for CABANA trial, and involved in many studies including Genetic AF, PREVENT-VT study and he is part of twelve major centers in the world which contribute to largest cohort, International Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation Center Collaborative Group. He has trained many Electrophysiology and Cardiology fellows and mentored in doing research leading to many publications.
