Selcuk Adabag, M.D., M.S.

Selcuk Adabag (adaba001@umn.edu) is a cardiac electrophysiologist at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center and faculty at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine and School of Public Health. His research focuses on prevention of sudden cardiac death by identifying high-risk individuals who may benefit from lifestyle changes, medical therapy, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) therapy. Secondary areas of research include outcomes of cardiac arrhythmias, cardiac implantable electronic devices, and outcomes after cardiac surgery. Dr. Adabag has experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of observational and clinical trial studies.

Dr. Adabag has an established track record of mentoring residents and fellows, and invites new fellows to conduct research projects using several databases he maintains at the VA Medical Center. Throughout his career he has been the recipient of multiple teaching awards from the UMN Medical School including: Faculty Teacher of the Year (2002, 2004, 2016) from the Internal Medicine Residency Program, Distinguished Teacher (2003, 2004) from the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program, and the Yang Wang Lifetime Educator Award (2018) from the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals and has made significant contributions to the careers of several trainees by mentorship.

Below are several recent publications that have resulted from his mentorships:
