Markus Meyer, M.D., PhD

Markus Meyer, M.D., PhD (meye3249@umn.edu) is an Associate Professor of Medicine and physician scientist with a focus on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. He is particularly interested in the interaction of heart rate and myocardial calcium handling. The research projects are bench-to-bedside of highly translational concepts. His main focus is the development of chronotherapy, a novel treatment approach in HFpEF.

Active Projects:

  • Nocturnal and rest pacing in HFpEF

  • Beta-blockers and HFpEF

  • Pharmacological chronotherapy in HFpEF

  • Myocardial calcium retention in HFpEF
