Over the past 6 years, several discoveries have revealed previously hidden life history complexity of freshwater fishes native to the Midwest. One species in particular is the bigmouth buffalo Ictiobus cyprinellus. In this talk we will explore recent findings on this enigmatic species, as well as some other related taxa. We will also discuss many conservation implications that have arisen relevant to Minnesota, and to this Conservation Science Seminar Series.
