The past is not dead: climate change lessons from the recent fossil record

Dr. Jacquelyn Gill

Associate Professor, University of Maine

Abstract

It's often said that, in a changing climate, species have three options: move, adapt, or die. Drawing on the last 2.5 million years of "natural experiments" in climate change, I'll use this framework to discuss how past biodiversity responses can help us to inform conservation in a warming world.
