Winning the Game: Interspecific Interactions In a Changing World

Dr. Asia Murphy

Postdoctoral Researcher, University of Arizona

Abstract

Species interactions are one of the more fundamental structural processes in our complex world. Humans have always been a part of this process, although our influence has intensified in the recent era. I'll walk through three different ecosystems in which species interactions are affected by humans in the roles of ecosystem engineer or superpredator to give us a glimpse into what future interspecific interactions might look like.

Dr. Asia Murphy is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Arizona, examining urban ecology with a focus on native pollinator communities through an interdisciplinary lens. She obtained her doctorate in ecology from Pennsylvania State University. When she's not exploring interspecific interactions in our changing world, she's taking pictures of native bees.
