Effective communication is crucial in establishing partnerships (SDG 17) between governments, the private sector, and civil society in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. However, significant challenges remain as official development assistance has not reached targeted levels, private investment flows are not well aligned with sustainable development, and there are on-going trade tensions.
This symposium brings together speakers from academia, the media and civil society in Malaysia to discuss existing SDG-related initiatives and projects in their respective areas and how society can benefit from multi-stakeholder partnerships. In addition, challenges and barriers to impact-oriented SDG initiatives and policies would be discussed. Most importantly, the symposium helps us reflect on where we are now and where we need to go to ensure a sustainable society for the future generations, in the Malaysian context.
