People rely considerably on plastic materials in their daily lives because it is convenient. However, it generates tons of non-degradable waste every second worldwide. In addition, studies have shown that microplastic particles are widely present in the bodies of marine animals. Since the public has limited knowledge about the damage plastic does to the oceans, we decided to organize a recycling art workshop that could recycle plastic waste and promote sustainability. In order to participate in this workshop, participants will need to bring their own plastic trash and create artwork related to the theme of the ocean. They are also welcome to participate in a collaborative art creation on two large-sized canvases. All artworks produced at the event will be displayed in a local gallery. After the workshop, participants can take responsibility for environmental and sustainability issues in the future, based on the scientific knowledge they have learned in the workshop.
