My senior year of high school, I was heavily involved in a poetry club that went to annual conventions that had to do with slam poetry.
I found comfort in poetry since it was one of my copping mechanisms for the shambles that was my life.
I wrote and performed poems with my group.
For 2 consecutive years, I would meet up with my program, The Fellowship Initiative, and Groundswell to create a mural that had to do with being a person of color trying to survive in America.
