Hi ! My name is Eraldy ... but you can call me Laly.
I'm an Art major in UIC and in my spare time I like to draw anything and I'm huge nerd when it comes to TV Shows, Anime and Youtube.
It's real small but this my favorite place to hang out and do my homework in peace. Even though a lot of people chill around here, it's always quiet. I found this place when I was exploring around campus which I felt connected and felt being there. There are other places that I usually hang out but this one call out for me. So yeah.. this favorite part to chill around campus.
This space is not normally used a this person decided to sit down to charge her phone. There are other charging stations that provide its used. But I think it's a habit that people may have to find an outlet so their phones won't die.
To claim a space is like to claim a mark to a certain place that is own by an individual. It's place that everyone could relate to and feel comfortable to be in that space. For example, this image of the Chicago Flag symbolizes many meanings. The colors stands very bright to make a statement. Especially the flag on it's own because the way it's position gives a landmark. Also gives history to where this is located that is space belongs to someone who relates to the same passion and determination when they are in Chicago.
Eraldy, I like these ideas about what it means to claim space using the Chicago flag as a symbol. Do you remember what Ross said about what the colors of the flag in the "Claiming Space" exhibit mean?
