Hull House Visit
I found the Hull House space, made for and by children, was very interesting. What is claiming space? To the kids and the parents, they had an important learning space taken away from them. Schools have a very important power that is able to impact generations to come. They had that power taken from them, and this was their way of reclaiming it - showing that they know what happened from them, and reacting to it by making art.
Jess, yes! Your entry on the "Claiming Space" exhibit conveys the impact of the 2013 school closures on the students and their communities, and the power of artistic response.
