Good afternoon, I'm Antonio Soto.
When I have an hour gap before my next class, I hang out in the second floor of the Student Center in the side rooms. This space makes me empty my mind and decompresses all the stress of school. The space is very quiet and relaxing, which gives me time to do homework without any distraction. The space looks claiming, with some people sleeping on the couches. I spend time with friends in that space to watch funny videos or talk about our lives.
Claiming Space means to me for people to take the time to educate people about things happen around the world or close to home. The space can be used to regroup the community that have been affected or not affected by their community. The space used from the exhibition used the children affected by the public schools shut down in order to explain how people were affected. The exhibition used a grant puzzles for people to participate in the urban intervention.
Antonio, I really like this idea that "Claiming Space" is about regrouping the community, especially when it comes to a community that has been hurt by school closures. As you suggest, the exhibit suggests how people were affected, and it also gives people artistic tools to intervene and participate.
