St. Vincent De Paul Society Council of Santa Cruz County

Nation's Finest

  • Housing non-profit that provides assistance to veterans (and their household) facing housing insecurity or homelessness through case management and temporary financial assistance 

  • Provides financial assistance for eligible veterans to secure housing (security deposits, eviction prevention)

  • Eligibility: must not have  a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge, make less than 80% of AMI, homeless, have received an eviction or a pay or quit notice,

Community Action Board

  • The Rental Assistance Program (RAP) serves low income families with children or disabled and elderly (60 years of age or older) households who have received an eviction notice. 

  • Eviction prevention program and offers rental/mortgage assistance to Santa Cruz County residents faced with an eviction notice

Eligibility: resident of SC county, must have eviction notice and show that assistance will prevent eviction, income must not exceed 130% of Poverty Guidelines for Scotts Valley, and Watsonville and 200% for Santa Cruz and and unincorporated areas, must be disabled single, elderly, or a household with children.

Valley Churches United

  • provide emergency rent/mortgage assistance on a case-by-case basis to qualifying clients.

Eligibility: must be resident of Scotts Valley or San Lorenzo Valley, meet rental-assistance requirements, complete a Rent/Mortgage Assistance form, write a personal statement explaining the circumstances, show how the rent/mortgage will be paid in subsequent months if VCUM provides assistance. Bring Photo ID and proof of residency (current bill, bank statement...etc)

  • Other services: Food pantry, utility assistance, clothing vouchers, buss passes, gas vouchers for medical appointments

Families in Transition 

  • Works in partnership with families who are homeless, providing participants with access to employment training, social services and housing opportunities to assist them in becoming both self-reliant and interdependent members of the community.

  • Case managers work closely with program participants to identify barriers to housing and come up with individualized housing stability plans to ensure client success

Assists families with readjustment onto the path of financial stability and self-sufficiency by providing direct assistance

  • Emergency Rental Assistance program is a short-term support program serving families and individuals seeking one-time financial assistance for rent and utilities.

  • CalFresh (Food Stamps) application assistance, nutrition Education offers nutrition education classes tailored to low-income and CalFresh eligible families and individuals, covered California (Medi-Cal)
