Public assistance program that provides cash aid and services to eligible families that have a child in the home
If eligible, families can receive immediate short-term help towards housing, food, utilities, clothing or medical care. Families that apply and qualify for ongoing assistance receive money each month to help pay for housing, food and other necessary expenses.
Eligibility requirements include an applicant's citizenship, age, income, resources, assets and other factors
Modest Needs offers Self-Sufficiency Grants to qualified individuals / households who need help to afford two specific types of expenses:
Unexpected or emergency expenses that an individual or family living paycheck-to-paycheck could not possibly afford without a short-term hand-up. (See link for examples)
Monthly bills that an individual or family living paycheck-to-paycheck cannot afford to pay at the time of their application because of a documented extenuating circumstance that occurred within the past year. (See link for examples)
Eligibility: At least one adult member of the applicant's household must be employed at the time of the application; and the primary (largest) source of income for each applicant's household must be either income earned from employment; or child support payments; or Veteran's Benefits; or retirement income (including Social Security retirement benefits).
