Do you have a question you feel should be added to this list?
Send the question (and the answer if you have it--if not, we'll do that part!)
to us at eebadvising@ucsc.edu and we'll review it for possible inclusion.
How can I get involved in the EEB community?
Visit the EEB website to learn more about the EEB community, news & events (including academic-year weekly seminars), people, and the various resources available to you.
The answer depends on several factors, which include, but are not limited to:
the major to which you wish to change;
your quarter of enrollment/major declaration deadline at UCSC;
whether you started at UCSC as a frosh or as a transfer student;
whether you have completed qualification courses;
how many, if any, non-passing grades you've earned in qualification courses; etc.
Please contact eebadvising@ucsc.edu to determine if your specific situation will allow for a change of major.
For information on EEB research, see the information under ' Undergraduate Research' section of this handbook. For other UCSC research opportunities, visit this link.
Review your major requirements in the university catalog;
Visit this site, or meet with an EEB advisor, to create an academic plan;
'Share' the plan with eebadvising@ucsc.edu if you create one on your own;
Work with an EEB advisor to keep your plan updated each quarter based on courses enrolled in and completed;
Monitor the courses completed and still needed using your Degree Progress Report (DPR), which is programmed directly from the university catalog; and
Monitor your plan for alignment with your DPR each quarter;
Work with an EEB advisor to update the DPR with any coursework taken outside of UCSC and approved to fulfill major requirements.
Yes. This is referred to as Quarters of Eligibility, and students are expected to graduate by the end of their full-time-UCSC-enrolled 12th quarter (or fourth year) for students who enter as frosh; or by the end of their 6th quarter (or second year) for Junior Transfer students.
Quarters of Eligibility can be extended to 15 (maximum) if needed and approved for students who enter as Frosh; and up to 9 if needed and approved for students who enter as Junior Transfer students.
See your major advisor to discuss extending your time at UCSC, and we will work with your college advisor to determine whether and how many additional Quarters of Eligibility are available and required to complete degree requirements. We will work with you on academic planning as part of this process.
