Blog VII

Analyzing Data

Welcome to this week's blog. I was particularly interested in writing this blog because of the relevance it has in conducting our own research. Many, if not all, of the things referenced in the article, were also referenced in our course - including making a word map and conducting qualitative research.

Reading this article did transport me back to STA 100. This dreadful class taught me various methods in collecting, interpreting, and understanding the importance of finding meaningful data.
For analyzing research, the article broke it down in very simple terms. Analyzing research can be broken down into a formula, sort of what we did in class. The first few steps are to develop a research question, decide on a research method, collect data, analyze data, and to finally report the findings (Denny and Clark 86).

Conducting research really just boils down to following a recipe or formula. You can always add your own flare into it, but research writing is straightforward and is for scientific purposes. I would like to say it follows the scientific method in a way. Propose a hypothesis and then test that hypothesis. After all, this is pretty much what research is. Research is a recipe and the research paper that we have to write shouldn't be looked at as something intimidating. Once you break down all the steps and space it out, it will then become very manageable.
