Sanchez-Martin

Welcome to my first blog post! After reading Cristina Sanchez-Martin's essay, "Beyond Language Difference in Writing: Investigating Complex and Equitable Language Practices" I began to think of how structured our education system is. If you grew up in the American education system, you are matriculated to demonstrate competency in various subjects including English, mathematics, arts, history, foreign language, history, and geography. It makes my mind wonder how diverse teaching is in other countries, how mathematics learning is different in Russia or Germany, or how such a solidified structure has influenced our generation and generations to come.
I believe that the fundamentals of knowledge and advancements are influenced by where we acquired our knowledge and education. For example, if you were to be matriculated in a private school, there is a good possibility that your views on politics, history, and your ability to write in the English language is different than that of a person who was educated in the public schooling system. This brings back the purpose of creative writing; it should be encouraged at a young age and taught thorughout K-12. We live in a society that embraces differences and those differences should be echoed in our literary skills as well.
