How to Use Survey Questions

Hey all! Welcome to this weeks blog on survey questions!

After reading "8 Types of Survey Questions to Get You All the Data You Need" and "Writing Good Survey Questions Tips & Advice by UCSD Student Research & Information" I was able to understand the importance of survey questions in research. Survey questions can often lead how research paper are written and as expressed in the articles, having well written survey questions will provide for better research. I learned that there are many different types of survey questions, including, "Dichotomous Questions, Multiple-Choice Questions, Checkbox questions, Rating Scale Questions, Likert Scale Questions, Matrix Questions, Open-Ended Questions, and Demographic Questions" (Nemanja Jovancic).

Something that's also important to consider is whether or not the people you are surveying are the right people to be surveyed. Do they qualify to answer these questions? It's important to keep in mind who your target audience is without being biased or influencing the naturalness of surveys. Surveys are supposed to be unbiased, without any extrinsic factors to influence the data. This goes back to the importance of writing good survey questions, as seen in the first source. A well-written survey question will be able to provide data for the research question.
