Monday - We finished up the details on the CNC material on the fusion model as we had to redo the ventilation holes. We did the ventialtion holes rather than the perforation materials it improved the aesthetics of our design and would make the build more efficient. We realized cutting through the wood with CNC would be much easier and that taking time to screw the material would be difficult. We are sending this into the CNC process and we are going to start working on the code as well as the other parts of the build. This is aprt fo the design process of creating the actual material and creating a good design for our project.
Tuesday - Today we worked on ventilation as we had some issues with the CNC beign able to cut the ventilation. We decided to use the perforation material that we will get ourselves, similar to the picture above. Radha has ventilation that we can use that allows us to directly screw it into the frame. We chose to CNCthe mirror space engraving and slots as well on the side. After meeting with Mr. Rojas, we decided to keep the slotdepth at 0.35, so we changed the parameters. This will allow our mirror frame to not be cut all the waythrough the CNC process. This is part of the building/testing process as we are trying to figure out which parts of our mirror we want to proceed with. We will be focusing on the actual code for the next week.
Wednesday - Today we found the one millimeter piece needed to cut the wood through the CNC for the slit. This helps us get a perfect fit if the mirror so we can secure it within the fram without any extra pieces. We also checked our slots with Mr. Rojas to make sure it could be CNC'ed without any later problems. We focused on going over all of our holes and gaaps within our model including the pictures above to make sure we have a solid design. We also showed Mr. Rojas our ventilation this day and finalized the piece of material we need for the ventialtion. We decided on the one circle that was small enough and added that to our model. This is also part of our design process as we are still desiging our model before we start builiding and testing so we can settle the aesthetic sof the proejct early on before making permanent changes later on.
Thursday - We discussed some flaws within our bottom piece with mr. Rojas. We addressed how our holes must be smaller and actually have some sort of design to the wires in order to look more aesthetic. As a team, we decided to just shorten tthe holes to a 0.75 diameter and instead make the wires tied together so all the wires can fit in perfectly. We also decided on different areas of the model where we can put the speaker insluding within the actual bottom piece of wood and on the outside of the wood as well. We will continue to work on finalizing the actaul materials before we CNC. This is part fo the design process as it helps us figure out what kind of design we want before we actually start the buidling and testing phase.
Friday - We discussed some flaws within our top piece and bottom piece as a continuation from yesterday. Mr. Rojas pointed out hwo our ventilation holes were too big and would interfere with the actual drilling into the wood for the screws of the actual ventilation. We also continued to talk abotut the speaker as we are still trying to decide where we want to place our speaker before we make any final adjustments to the wood. We will CNC next week after havign amde these revisions wiht Mr. Rojas and making sure that we are precise with our measurmeents before making any permanent adjustments to our wood. This is part of the design process as it includes out testing and planning stage to figure out what kinds of designs and aesthetics we want.
