Monday 02/23 - We used our time on Monday to finalize the CNC Pieces. We wanted a bold clear font that said mirror space on our side piece of wood and we decided as a team that we want to use rectangles as the ventilation escape so we can use the perforation material without having any sharp edges as discussed on Friday. We also made sure to measure all the wood to make sure we have the exact dimensions for the CNC. We will plan on talking to Mr. Rojas tomorrow on cutting our wood so we can have it ready for assembly next week. We will be bringing in the mirror tomorrow for measurements and we will be getting the ventilation material from Radha. This is part of the design process as we are determining the aesthetics of our project and what further steps we can take to improve the aesthetic of our project as directed by Mr. Rojas. This is the Prototype step of the Design Process.
Tuesday 02/24 - Today Radha brought in our mirror and we assembled our Mirror with the wood to see how it would look. After laying it out, we realized that a couple changes would need to be made and discussed them with Mr. Rojas. He suggested flipping the top so that the mirror can slide in and also suggested the CNC for many of the changes. With any extra space he said we can use a filling. This is the Implement step of the Design Process. We used the suggested changes and implemented them into fusion.
Wednesday 02/25 - Today after discussing with Mr. Rojas, we went between changing the perferation to CNC able pieces. Radha also used the Memory SD card to take a look at the code and see how we should go about it. We also decided on painting the wood and other aesthetic matters. This is the This is the Prototype step of the Design Process.
Thursday 02/26 - Today we discussed with Mr. Rojas and figured out that we should use the CNC machine. We will use it for the ventilation for the top plan as well. Our original plan was to use the CNC just to cut out square blocks from the center of the wood and then use pre-cut perforation holes, but we decided it is better to just have the machine cut out our ventilation rather than doing it ourselves. Instead we decided to go with a classic circular ventilation design as we believe it will allow or heat to disperse from the top and have it look aesthetically pleasing at he same time. We also figured that using the CNC will make it a lot easier to use for the ventilation rather than gluing the sheet metal onto the rectangular slots which improve efficiency. This is Implement part of the design process as we figure out the aesthetics of our project and are finalizing the look of our project.
