The Effectiveness of Statistical Literacy Videos on the Knowledge of Nursing Students
This project continues sequential research from Ayman Mehdi’s pilot study indicating that educational videos are an effective method for teaching nurses basic statistical concepts. Continuing the creation of educational videos and studying the videos’ effectiveness in a larger audience that includes a sample of nursing students, the final product consists of a 10-page paper, manuscript for submission to a professional journal, presentation materials, links to the videos, and an evidence table on the topic.

Cannabis Use in the Oncology Population: Historical Review of Literature
In collaboration with Seghen Kalleb as ENSPIRE interns, this study gathers data to improve care at Mary Crowley Cancer Research Center and to the population at large from disseminated findings. Following the interview of 10 patients at MCCRC, the final product consists of a 10-page manuscript over cannabis research and use within the oncology field. Additionally, the project includes an abstract for presentation at a conference, a poster describing the manuscript, and a PowerPoint presentation for stakeholders at MCCRC.

The Effectiveness of Classroom Mindfulness Interventions on Undergraduate Nursing Students’ Gratitude and Kindness in Daily Life
Using the Broaden-and-Build theory of Barbara Fredrickson, this study addresses the gap in literature and conducts a research study to measure students’ behaviors and perceived levels of gratitude and kindness after a 14-day mindfulness meditation intervention.
