Hello 2nd Grade Families!

Wow! We blinked and it is the holiday season and we will be halfway through the year! It was a joy meeting with all of you for our parent/teacher conferences. Thank you for all of your support!

We have been working so hard and learning so much! We are preparing for our Progress Monitoring #2 December 3rd for Reading and December 9th for Math. It will be fabulous to see all the student growth!

Our class is working on learning about these standards in Social Studies:

I can recognize that Native Americans were the first inhabitants in North America.
I can compare the cultures of Native American tribes from various geographic regions of the United States.
I can describe the impact of immigrants on the Native Americans.

We have been researching specific Native American tribes. Your child will be assigned a specific tribe with a few other students. They will answer certain questions about this tribe while performing a fun skit or play. They are so exited about this. More information will be sent home soon.

Please continue to review the skills in the Practice Packets with your child and return the packets to me on Fridays. Be sure to leave comments at the bottom of the front page and reach out to me if you have any questions. Second Quarter Report Cards are just around the corner on December 17th. Please be sure to check your child's Skyward Grades.

Important Field Trip Paperwork has been sent home! Please complete and return all required information asap! Thank you!

Field Trip Information:

When: Tuesday, January 13th

Where: Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park

Please pay close attention to our due dates:

Wednesday, November 12th: Lunch selection and chaperone interest along with online volunteer application turned in with driver's License

Friday, November 14th: Chaperone Drawing

Wednesday, December 17th: Payment Due Date for both student and chaperones
