My name is Mrs. Sears, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 6th year at the Villages Charter School, and my 4th year as a classroom teacher. I have an amazing husband, Luke, and our two sweet kiddos, Beckham and Evelyn!
Please check your child's agenda and binder every night! Please remember to initial each day and check the "keep home" side for any notices, etc. They will need to bring these back to school every day.

Important Dates and Reminders:
-August 4th: Orientation 11:00am-1:00pm & 4:00pm-6:00pm
-August 6th: First day of school
-August 20th: Open house 6-7:30
-August 27th: Pictures
-September 11th: Founder's Day (accepting volunteers and donations for PI)
-September 25th- Deadline to Donate to Buffalo Basket for PI time
Reading: Students should read their library books at home with a parent each week- roughly 15-20 minutes each night. Please review the weekly study guides sent home each week.
*Please ensure your child is bringing at least 1 library book each day to read in class as well!
Math: Students will have a daily math practice page that reinforces the skill we learned that day in class. Please view your child's agenda for more information on which problems have been assigned. Thank you!
Additional reminders:
*Please send in a healthy snack and water bottle with your student each day!
Classroom Wishlist- Not required, but can earn PI time with receipts sent in. We appreciate anything you are able to send in!

What we are learning:
Reading: This week in Reading, we will focus on the following skills: rules and procedures, writing/library stations
Writing strategy: Learning target #1
Phonics: UFLI Lessons 41b+41c
Math: This week in math, we will be learning about Place value (showing 3-digit numbers using blocks). We will have a Math Assessment for NSO1.1 and NSO 1.2 on Wednesday, 8/19
Science: This week in Science, we will be learning about how to think like a scientist- reviewing the nature of science.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are learning about: citizenship and patriotism.
