My name is Mrs. Sears, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 5th year at the Villages Charter School, and my 3rd year as a classroom teacher. I have an amazing husband, Luke, and our two sweet kiddos, Beckham and Evelyn!
Please check your child's agenda and binder every night! Please remember to initial each day and check the "keep home" side for any notices, etc. They will need to bring these back to school every day.
Parent Teacher Conferences are available as requested.

Important Dates and Reminders:
January 6th-Students return from break
January 13th: Lunch selection, return trip info, and chaperone interest, along with online volunteer application turned in with driver's License due (zoo Tampa trip)
January 15th: Drawing for and notification of chaperones
January 19th: Martin Luther King Jr. Day- NO SCHOOL
January 20th: 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL!
February 6th: Zoo Payment Due Date for both students and chaperones

February 19th: Field trip to Zoo Tampa
Reading: Students should read their library books at home with a parent each week. Please review the weekly study guides sent home each week. *Please ensure your child is bringing at least 1 library book each day to read in class as well!
Math: Students will have a daily math practice page that reinforces the skill we learned that day in class.

*Please send in a healthy snack and water bottle with your student each day!

What we are learning:
Reading: This week in Reading, we will focus on the following skills:
-Figure of speech- Idioms, similies, alliteration (1/5-1/23)
Writing strategy: Learning target #4: Writing "
Phonics: UFLI Lessons 96/97
Math: This week in math, we will be learning about 2 step word problems!
-We are also working on becoming fluent with our addition and subtraction facts (specifically doubles facts and 2-digit addition). Please practice with your child each night.
Science: This week in Science, we will be learning about life cycles and what living things need.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are learning about:
- Historical Knowledge, Colonial America, and Goods and Services.
