My name is Mrs. Sears, and I am so excited to be your child's teacher this year! This is my 5th year at the Villages Charter School, and my 3rd year as a classroom teacher. I have an amazing husband, Luke, and our two sweet kiddos, Beckham and Evelyn!
Please check your child's agenda and binder every night! Please remember to initial each day and check the "keep home" side for any notices, etc. They will need to bring these back to school every day.

Reading: Students should read their library books at home with a parent each week. Please review the weekly study guides provided. *please ensure your child is bringing at least 1 library book each day to read in class as well!
Math: Students will have a daily math practice page that reinforces the skill we learned that day in class.
Additional reminders:
*Please send in a healthy snack and water bottle with your student each day!
*You may purchase an agenda and ID ($7) for your student through Skyward. A friendly reminder to complete your child's emergency contact form online as well.

What we are learning:
Reading: This week in Reading, we will focus on the following skills:
-Text features
-Academic vocabulary
-Pronouns
Writing strategy: Writing an introduction using a clear central idea and "my own ideas"
Phonics: UFLI Lessons 76/79
Math: This week in math, we will be learning about adding two whole numbers with sums up to 100 with procedural reliability. our current focus is making an addend a ten in order to solve an addition problem more easily!(Two-Digit Addition)
-We are also working on becoming fluent with our addition and subtraction facts (specifically doubles facts and 2-digit addition). Please practice with your child each night.
Science: This week in Science, we will be learning about the changing seasons as well as the water cycle.
Social Studies: In Social Studies, we are learning about:
-Using different types of maps (political, physical, and thematic) to identify map elements.
-Using maps and globes, locate the student’s hometown, Florida, and North America, and locate the state capital and the national capital.
-Label on a map or globe the continents, oceans, Equator, Prime Meridian, North and South Pole.
-Use a map to locate the countries in North America (Canada, United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands).
