As a TUSD school, TUVA staff and scholars will participate in PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports). Through PBIS, we aim to encourage and increase positive behavior choices by offering incentives for positive behavior choices and providing interventions for students who are struggling to meet conduct expectations. The PBIS matrix below outlines our expectations for all TUVA students. Please share the matrix with your students and refer to it when you acknowledge positive behaviors.
As we continue to expand our implementation of site-based PBIS, Professional Learning will be provided throughout the year during Professional Learning Days and supported during our site-based PLC and PD sessions.
A voluntary PBIS committee will meet monthly. The PBIS committee will collaborate to develop our site-based and classroom-based incentives. The committee will also review discipline data to determine the effectiveness of our PBIS initiatives.
Intentionally model and teach behavior expectations; refer to the TUVA PBIS matrix regularly to familiarize students with expectations.
Acknowledge students who are making positive behavior choices by awarding Cooper Credits.
Attend district-required PBIS professional development sessions.
