We recognize that everyone lesson plans in different ways. However, the purpose behind lesson planning is to have clear, standards-based objective for each day's lesson that fits within a bigger picture of a unit. What we are asking this year is to post those daily learning targets on Canvas so they are visible for students as well as the leadership team. These learning targets will serve as the evidence of your lesson planning.
Elementary: The learning targets will be added to the Canvas interactive daily schedule. Learning targets for K-4 students should be phrased in student-friendly language to provide clarity and help students understand what they will be learning that day.
Secondary: Learning targets will be posted on a weekly basis on Canvas. There may be a broad learning target for the week or several learning targets depending on the content being covered throughout the week.
In the first semester, instructional walkthroughs will focus on the communication and student understanding of the learning targets. As we continue our work in PLCs, we will begin to add success criteria in addition to the learning targets.
Elementary: Include a Learning Target for each subject on the daily interactive schedule.
Secondary: Post weekly Learning Targets on Canvas for each course.
