Google Voice will no longer be a tool paid for by the Tukwila School District. The paid accounts that were set up during the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and 2021-2022 school years will no longer be renewed. Talking Point (link to more info) will replace Google Voice.
Google Voice accounts that are already established by the Technology Department will be turned off after June 30th, 2022.
Free Google Voice accounts were a thing. They still will be. Google Voice is not being blocked. It will not longer be paid for by TSD to support the large number of accounts at this time. If you have a legacy or "free" Google Voice account from the years 2010-2016, your account will be unaffected.
Great question. Google Voice will not be paid for the majority of staff members as it was during remote learning in the midst of the pandemic. There are reasons to have Google Voice. First step in getting/keeping your accounts is to contact your immediate supervisor and ask if they would be willing to support the $30/month/user fee of Google Voice.
Great question. Google Voice costs about $30 a month/user.
Talking Points is a powerful messaging service that has translation options. It works like text messaging for our families. It also has an app. Take a look at Talking Points to message families in the future.
Great question. The way to call families is to use the district phones in our buildings, classrooms, and offices on campus. Needing to organize a conference call? Zoom and Google Meet are two options supported in our district. Google Meet can even make phone calls, in a pinch. Note: Google Meet was not intended to be a calling service. It is a last resort.
