Zoom
Zoom Meetings has been used for distance learning, remote teaching, and hybrid instruction in 2019 to 2021. Zoom Meetings is a web-based service that works with our staff PC computers and student Chromebooks. On the staff computers, Zoom works best with the Zoom Client for Meetings - https://zoom.us/download#client_4meeting and setting the features wanted in your Zoom.Us account on a web-browser. For student Chromebooks, Zoom works through a progressive web app - https://blog.zoom.us/how-to-use-zoom-on-a-chromebook/ . This is a change from when students used Zoom in the 2020-2021 school year. It means the students will be logging on to Zoom in a Chrome TAB, not a separate app.
FAQ's
Can I still share the Zoom Meeting link with students in Google Classroom?
Yes. The Zoom PWA will open up links.
Can students join a Zoom Meeting with the Meeting ID and password?
Yes. The steps will look slightly different. But, yes.
Why did my students' Chromebooks did not have Zoom? How come?
I have noticed that many issues with Chromebooks are because students do not power off the Chromebook and restart it very often. The power off cycling on Chromebooks is when the CB's receive operating system UPDATES. These updates and changes are often crucial. Here is an old video for how to update a Chromebook - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlNIBAh1U8E.
