Severe Food Allergies
If your child has food allergies, please notify the school nurse with a detailed description of the specific foods and symptoms of a reaction.
Depending on the allergy and physicians’ documentation, we may develop an Individual Health Care Plan to accommodate your child’s needs throughout the school day. In some cases of life-threatening allergies, you may not be allowed in individual classrooms to send in certain foods. In such cases, we will notify you of foods that are not permitted.
Parents of children with allergies shall provide necessary medications and physician orders for their administration. Please direct medications and physician's orders to the nurses’ office as your child may not transport or administer medications on his/her own by state law.
Our Tri Town School cafeterias do not serve peanuts or peanut products and we do provide a peanut-free table during lunch. If you choose to send peanut products in your children’s lunches, your child must wash his/her hands before leaving the cafeteria to ensure the safety of allergic students who share the same playground equipment. We refrain from using peanuts and peanut products for classroom projects.
While we make our best attempts to provide a safe school setting and to minimize risks, we cannot guarantee a peanut-free environment at all times. Therefore our ultimate aim is to educate everyone and have each child be as self-sufficient as possible.
