The Role of The School Nurse
Each school in the Tri-Town School Union has a nurse on staff who is available during the school day.
The school nurse is available to provide first aid to injured children and care for ill children throughout the school day. She administers daily medication and emergency medication to students and performs medically prescribed procedures. The school nurse provides training and health education, develops health care plans to ensure students' health and safety. Throughout the school year, she schedules and conducts essential health screenings for school children and make medical referrals as needed. The state of Massachusetts requires the school nurse to collect and maintain necessary documentation such as health records, physical exams, and immunization records.

Reminders from your School Nurse
Please notify the school if your child is going to be tardy or absent from school. Identify the reason for the absence so we can track of illnesses in the school.
Please remember to keep sick children home for at least 24 hours free of a fever without fever reducing medicine( such as Tylenol or Motrin) and symptoms have improved.
If your child needs medication during the school day a responsible adult needs to bring it to school. Never send medication to school with your child.
Remember to notify the office if your work/cell/home phone number changes or if your emergency numbers change such as when you go away and your child stays home with a babysitter.
Hand washing is one of the easiest and most effective methods of decreasing the spread of germs. Please continue to teach/review proper hand washing techniques with your child.
