Understand Structures
In this chapter, you will learn how to summarize a group of activities using summary activities or hammock activities.
Summary activity
A summary activity:
summarizes individual activities within a subproject.
displays the total distance and time range of all sub-activities.
can be shown or hidden.
can display a summary activity with activity details (opened) or the summary activity only (closed).
can have costs and resources allocated to it.
The display of a closed summary activity depends on the chosen activity template, e.g., a rectangle.
Hammock activity
A hammock activity:
can be used to create relations to activities in different subprojects.
can have costs and resources allocated to it.
The distance coordinates of a hammock activity can be chosen using the distance option.
The display of a hammock activity depends on the chosen activity template, e.g., a rectangle.
Using summary activities
A summary activity summarizes individual activities within a subproject.
The summary activity displays the total distance and time range of sub-activities.
Summary activities can be shown or hidden.
You can either display the summary activity with activity details (opened) or the summary activity only (closed).
The display of a closed summary activity depends on the chosen activity template, e.g., a rectangle.
Costs and resources can be allocated to a summary activity.
Using hammock activities
Example
The left-hand cell shows a hammock activity within its own subproject 1. The time range of the hammock activity "construction time A" arises from the activity details in subproject 2.
Using hammock activities, you can create relations to activities in other or the same subprojects.
You can choose the position of the hammock activity using the distance. ...
The presentation of the hammock activity is dependent on the chosen activity template, e.g., a rectangle
Costs and resources can be allocated to a hammock activity.
