January 29th - Thursday - Student Launch Assembly from Mr. Laker
Mr. Laker will meet with Year 9's in assembly to go through the Options process along with keys dates and the launch of the Options Website
February 2nd - 13th - Taster Sessions
Departments will begin offering taster sessions both during the curriculum and after school. Students should use this opportunity to gain insight into the course content and demands of GCSEs they may not have had access to previously.
February 5th - Thursday - Options Evening
This important event is designed to help pupils and their families make informed decisions about the GCSE courses they will study during Key Stage 4. These choices will play a significant role in shaping future academic and career opportunities, so we strongly encourage all Year 9 students and their parents or carers to attend.
During the evening, you will have the opportunity to:
Hear one of the 2 presentations taking place about the GCSE curriculum, key dates, and the options process (5.45pm and 6.30pm).
Meet subject teachers to discuss course content, requirements, and suitability for your child.
Explore the wide range of subjects and pathways available, including core subjects and optional courses.
February 6th - Friday - Google Form Released
Options forms will be released to students using their school emails
February 11th - Wednesday - Parents' Evening
Parents' will have the opportunity to discuss student progress and gain insights into the suitability of subjects for their children.
February 27th - Friday - Options Form Deadline (3.30pm)
The Deadline for Options forms to be completed and returned is 3.30pm on Friday 27th. Priority with over subscribed classes will be given to forms that are returned on time. We do not operate on a first come first serve basis for early returns
March - April - Initial timetable construction
Following the receipt of all student option forms, we begin the complex task of constructing the school timetable. Balancing the requirements of 1,100 students into the correct classes for the upcoming academic year is a lengthy and intricate process.
May - Student one-to one meetings with Senior Staff
All students will receive a one to one meeting with a senior member of staff to discuss the final Options allocation before it is released. Changes can be requested at this time but availability may be limited for changes to be made.
Late summer term - Confirmation of Option Choices
An email will be released to confirm the final Options allocation for the coming academic year.
