What if I've changed my mind after the deadline?

We will look at your request after we have processed the inital forms and made sure that any students needing to select different combinations are allocated classes. If after that point there are spaces in the classes you have seceted the change in we will always try to accommodate the request.

Can I do an extra option and take 5

Your timetable only has room for four options, but you can also take an extra exam in your native language if you'd like. These exams are generally taken at the end of Year 10. If you’re interested, chat with the Language Department to find out more.

Why do I have to pick 5 Options when I only study 4?

To make sure we can create a timetable for over 200 students selecting different combinations we require students to select a 5 Option that we may use to make sure we can get the timetable to fit. If we have to use a reserve choice for a student we will make sure they meet with Mr. Laker to select the best combination for them.

What do I do if my pathway does not allow me to select all the subjects I'd like?

The pathways are designed to help guide your choices. If you're thinking about a different combination of Options, please chat with Mr. Laker. We want to make sure your subjects are broad and balanced enough to keep your future options open after your time here at Forest.

When do I find out my timetable?

Your 4 Options will be confirmed to you in the final term of he school Year. Your final timetable will go live to students the week you return to school in September 

What if I start the course and then don't like my selection?

It is better that you take the time now to do your research and carefully consider your subject choices. If you do start your subjects and think you have made the wrong choice you can request a change in the first 4 weeks of term. We will try and accommodate your request if there is room. After 4 weeks it is not possible to change Options.

Do I have to take an Ebacc subject/s (Language/Humanities/Computer Science)?

All students need to study an Ebacc subject/s as part of their Option choices (Different pathways will guide the amount and combination). All students have the ability to study both a Langauge and humanity as an Option combination and we urge students to consider the value of following this broad and balanced curriculum.

Can I study a language I haven't followed in Year 9?

The language curriculum requires students to only chose and language they are continuing to study. It is not possible to study a language in Year 10 you have not been learning in Year 9.

Can I take both Textiles and Product Design for Options?

Textiles and Product design are essentially the same GCSE (same exam paper and content) delivered through different mediums in the final design element of the course. It is therefore not possible to study both at the same time.

I'd like to select Triple Science as part of my Options?

Triple Science is an invite only course. Invites to complete the Triple science course will come out later in the Summer term of Year 9. Please speak to your Science teacher to gain more information on the selection process.
