(GWC 5 Year Anniversary Extravaganza)

Date of the Event: May 13th

What's The Gist? (Main Idea of the Event)

Students at Harborside Academy came together to plan and execute a spaghetti dinner to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the Grace Welcome Center. Students planned the event, cooked the food, completed different projects to support the GWC. Over $4,000 was raised during this event.

What are the details?

The event consisted of the following

  • Spaghetti Dinner (Sponsored by DeRango's and Harborside PTSO)

  • The sale of student created 2022/2023 GWC Calendars. Calendars we made to sell as a fundraiser for GWC.

  • Unveiling of the GWC 5 Year History Website (Students were assigned an event within the 5 years and created a webpage on this site)

  • Student created recipes to coincide with food the pantry gives out each week.

  • Russia/Ukraine Conflict Art Gallery

  • Tours of all the programs the GWC offers the community

  • Student lead ceremony honoring the GWC (Bishop Paul Erickson, Alderman Bill Siel and State Sentor Robert Wirch were speakers)

  • After the Dinner/Ceremony "LUNDE" a local band put on a concert at Ruether Auditorium to bring awareness to GWC. The concert was sponsored by "Daily Dose" and "Armandos Automotive"

  • Tickets were sold for $10. Through tickets sales and donations the event raised over $4,0000.
