This is the old food pantry where people could go to the Grace Welcome Center and shop for the food they wanted, kind of like a grocery store. The original pantry is used more as storage as covid kept people from going in and shopping and instead they can collect boxes of food.
This is a group that went to the Grace Welcome Center to support the opening of the food pantry that has helped many families within the community.
A month after Pastor Barker was ordained, he started a meal program to help feed the neighborhood of uptown Kenosha.
Pastor Barker was quick to action within his community to help those in need. It was crucial that he was fast in his efforts to help as they have continued to help people through dark times in their lives.
Within Kenosha a Piggly Wiggly, Fresh Market, and Pick n’ Save closed, most people were required to get food at convenience stores. Originally, these people could have gotten food from First Step, but due to its closing, Grace Welcome Center stepped up to help those in need to get healthy food that would otherwise be unavailable to these people.
It was necessary to create a food pantry when they did. With other locations closing and causing a decline in opportunities to get healthy food, the Grace Welcome Center took up this incredible role in keeping a neighborhood that was losing their sources of nutritious food.
Once per month a family may go to the food pantry and with proper photo identification for each member getting food, they line up to receive groceries.
Families from within our community are being given the opportunity to receive food that will keep them healthy. The Grace Welcome Center is giving everyone a chance to be able to live healthy.
Denise Russell made the decision to step away from her business and became the director of the food pantry. She had been given the opportunity to do something for her community, to give food to the needy, an opportunity she couldn’t miss.
Denise Russell holds a big role in the Grace Welcome Center and it is important to know what her reasons for stepping into the role was, and as you can see, it was a wonderful reason. She has stepped up to do something for her community that is bigger than even her.
While the Grace Welcome Center isn’t meant to completely meet the needs of the hungry, it is an addition to the many food organizations.
While the pantry is not a complete solution, it can help people get by in life and stay healthy. It is a wonderful addition to our many organizations that have made a difference in the lives of the needy.
