This event was called "Railroad To Shelter". The name of the event was discovered by Gracie Underwood an 8th grader at the time. She combined the name of the band "Cosmic Railroad" with Kenosha's homeless crisis to communicate that the Grace Welcome Center was an a journey to love their neighbors. The event consisted of a student gallery with art and history of the homeless crisis in kenosha, the sale of student created calendars of all the great things about Kenosha and a benefit concert by the band "Cosmic Railroad. All of proceeds from the event went to the Grace Welcome Center to help them expand their services.

In a response to the homeless crisis, students hosted a concert to help raise money for the Grace Welcome Center.
This allowed the Grace Welcome Center to help more people with temporary shelter but also food for them.
This event majorly helped the Grace Welcome Center in its beginning years
The concert took place in the auditorium of Harborside Academy and student work was displayed in the gym.
This concert allowed the Grace Welcome Center to establish its Thursday and Friday breakfast and to keep it going weekly.
The 7th and 8th grades were the volunteers helping set up and takedown the area.
The Harborside students were willing to give their time outside of the school to help their community grow and help people that needed it.
The tickets were $10 in advance and $15 at the door and all of the proceeds went to the Grace Welcome Center to help better the Grace Welcome Center so that they can better the lives of our community.
Hosting this fun activity helped better the Grace Welcome Center. The proceeds from the event helped the community by allowing the Grace Welcome Center to have a bigger budget.
Doing this benefit concert helped the Grace Welcome Center get a kick start on serving the community.
Doing this concert really allowed the Grace Welcome Center to grow in helping people in the community.

This was the flyer that was used to promote the Cosmic Railroad Concert around Uptown/Kenosha. Below Pastor Barker and Leif Petersen thanking everyone for the awesome evening. This was a huge night of encouragement for the Grace Welcome Center.

This IMovie was created by Harborside's very own Mr. Huissen along with a few students. It was played before the concert and was presented to the leadership of the Grace Welcome Center. This video was used for promotional purposes during the beginning years.

The evening was capped off by a rock concert with "Cosmic Railroad", an American roots rock band with a psychedelic twist. The concert featured a full light show. Tickets were sold in advance with the help of Happenings Magazine. A large portion of the proceeds from ticket sales went directly to the Grace Welcome Center.

Mr. Underwood : He helped by getting his students to work with him on the event.
Pastor Barker: Pastor Barker helped by also setting it up from The Grace Welcome Centers perspective.
Harborside students : Students helped set it up by completing various tasks and making sure everything went smoothly.
Why is this event/moment important to the Uptown Community and greater Kenosha? This is an important event in the Grace Welcome Center's history and not only did it help raise money for the Grace Welcome Center it also spread its name around and was more well known.
