13th Annual Race for the Hungry

What's The Gist?
The 13th annual Race for the Hungry was being donated to the Grace welcome Center in 2022. Teams of 2 ran around a grocery store collecting as much food as possible; in the end hundreds of dollars worth of food were donated to the Grace Welcome Center.
What are the details?
People that were not associated with Grace Welcome Center came to participate and help out.
The impact the GWC had on the community brought people from everywhere to help. This is showing how important the GWC is.
“We really like working with the community and helping them in doing things. That is a focus for us,” Benz said, adding this “super exciting” event will give back to those in need.”
The GWC is centered around the community. This was a great opportunity for them to give to others.
Pastor Jonathon Barker called this event a “tremendous blessing”
Pastor Barker is an amazing person to be able to look at all these people helping them and being humble and grateful. He has given the community a tremendous blessing by running the GWC.
“Denise Russell, food pantry director, said 135 families visited the center Tuesday.”
The Race for the Hungry gave the GWC a boost to support more families. They give these boxes out for free and never receive profit. This act of kindness is what makes the GWC so special and important.
The grocery bills came out to over 200 dollars per team.
This amount of money in food is a big help to the grace welcome center. They help everyone they come into contact with and they never complain but they need support.

Why is this event/moment important to the Uptown Community and greater Kenosha?
The Grace Welcome Center cares for everyone no matter who they are and they always do so without any profit; they only rely on donations. This act of kindness from the community showed the Grace Welcome Center that they are appreciated. This donation allows the Grace Welcome Center to keep helping their community.
