The walk-in cooler was donated by Tim Somers (and in memory of his mother, Helen Somers, as well as in honor of his sister and brother-in-law, Trish and Russel Scott.)
Donation is the lifeblood of the GWC. Without it, the GWC could not support the families and the food demand, or the money required to run every day. Simply put, the GWC would not exist without generous donations.
The cooler will allow for fresh produce and other perishables to be stored. This allows for many new food options to offer to the many people requiring food.
These items could not previously be stored and given due to them spoiling with the lack of refrigerator. This means that the GWC can give more variety in their food, which is very appreciated by the people being served.
It was blessed by priests from the Grace Lutheran Church and other area churches during the installation process.
This cooler is appreciated by the GWC and the area churches, so they blessed it in gratitude. This shows how important providing multiple varieties of food is to a food pantry.
The walk-in cooler provides access to a lot of new food items and allows the GWC to make more nutritious meals and keep the organization running.
Many people need nutrition to keep healthy, and the GWC wasn’t able to provide them until now. Without their health, it becomes very hard for many of these people to live and keep their family alive. The GWC serves to stop this and make life easier for those people.
Rev. Jonathan Barker attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, along with other Pastors and Reverends, the Somers, and many excited members of the community.
It was so important to the organization that many important people attended. As said before, the walk-in cooler is very important to preserving and maintaining variety and healthy diets to many hundreds of people.
Tim Somers: is the generous donor who gave the cooler to the GWC in memory of his mother, Helen Somers. He paid and brought the cooler so that people may use it to store more types of food to serve.
Russel Scott and Trish Scott: his brother-in-law and sister, also attended as the cooler was also donated in honor of them.
Reverend Jonathan Barker: is the leader of the GWC and their operations. Barker, along with the rest of the staff and volunteers at the GWC, participated in the ribbon cutting. They make sure that everything goes smoothly, as well as take part in many events and serve food weekly. This cooler allows for many new options for the pantry.
Priests from local churches also attended, showing their support for the GWC and blessing the cooler to wish the GWC luck in their operations.
Local members of the community also attended, eager to see the induction and take part in bettering the community.
