It is with utmost joy that we, the student council, embark on this wonderful journey alongside the rest of the student body. Our top priority is to make this year memorable and enjoyable, where the student's voice is acknowledged and prioritized. Our Student Council is composed of exceptional individuals, each with unique perspectives that they bring to the group. The member's willingness to learn and grow as a leader will contribute to the school's spirit in fostering commitment and relationships within the student body.
The Student Council's devotion to the school has been reflected since the beginning of the year. We gave the teachers Morning Coffee and enjoyed seeing their smiles light up. During the New Families orientation, we met and welcomed the students into the TASIS Dorado community. Through our Final Fridays, we have enjoyed seeing the student body's participation as well as the school CORE Values of Courage and Commitment reflected within the students.
I am so grateful for having been granted the opportunity to be a part of a community that has the common goal of watching the TASIS Dorado Community prosper and aims to make this year an unforgettable one. Being part of the Executive Board has allowed me to grow so much as a person and a leader. I wouldn't be standing here today if I hadn't taken a leap of faith and challenged myself. Something I learned is that the most important thing to keep in mind when choosing to take on a leadership role is the difference and impact you plan to bring into the community.
I look forward to seeing the amazing things that we will accomplish this year. I want you all to know that you can count on me and reach out to the StuCo members whenever you need to because we are here to listen to you. It is my last year so I am determined to make it a remarkable one.
Always remember that we are Inspired by our Legacies to create new memories.
Best wishes,
Mariana Inclán - TD Student Council President
Good morning, students, faculty, and administration:
Welcome Back! I am Mariana Inclán, your Student Council Executive Board President. I am so excited for this upcoming school year and look forward to seeing where it takes us all. It is sure to be a year filled with growth, hard work, and learning. It will also mark the beginning of many new friendships and memories. I encourage you to join me in stepping out of your comfort zone, meeting new people, and making the most out of this academic year.
The Executive Board has been working hard since May to create an amazing year full of activities for your enjoyment, the students, as well as for our TASIS Dorado community. In our first meeting, we discussed this year’s mission. We aim to remember and share our gratitude with our schools’ founders. We cannot truly cherish where we are today without acknowledging the past. As our schools’ founders did, we TASIS students put our heart into everything we do. Therefore, this year, we want to celebrate our student body’s achievements as well as our founders’ legacy. This goal helped us determine this year’s slogan: Inspired by our legacies to create new memories.
With this in mind, the Executive Board developed this year’s theme, CORE Year. The name CORE year comes from the five values our school instills in us students: courage, kindness, integrity, humility, and commitment. This year’s goal is to celebrate and see the school’s core values reflected within the student body during every StuCo activity. We want our school to continue being a safe space where everybody feels comfortable sharing their talents, but most importantly, feels comfortable being themselves. Even though we are all different, our TASIS community is a family that works to prioritize the student body's needs. We believe that our education at TASIS is not only academic but it also allows us to delve into our interests and form strong bonds with the people around us, like our peers and teachers. This year will be filled with many activities that encourage students to participate and get involved as they continue to grow as global citizens and innovative, selfless leaders.
Many of the activities that will be held throughout the year are meant to test our students' courage, whether that is through their decision-making skills, taking on new experiences, or simply asking for help. We are here to guide you, listen to your concerns, and provide you with a welcoming and comforting environment. Many TASIS students find courage in joining a club, participating in a sport, and/or engaging in community service. Exploring all the possibilities available to us is crucial to our growth as it enhances our school experience, providing chances to form deeper connections with others, which is vital when it comes to strengthening our TASIS community. For example, during Kindness Week, students had the chance to share their kindness with others. They created appreciation cards, videos, and posters to distribute around the school to demonstrate their kindness and gratitude. When we come together to make our school environment more supportive and caring, we form deeper connections and new relationships with each other.
Another important aspect of this year will be integrity. It is a very admirable trait that all TASIS Dorado students share. The activities we, the student council, have prepared will put students’ integrity to the test. Students must stay true to themselves and our community during Final Friday activities. Our goal is for students to learn valuable lessons about honesty, respect for others, and equity.
Humility is another essential Core Value we aim to reflect through community service. Every year, the student council comes up with new community service opportunities. Through service, students demonstrate humility by putting the needs of others above their own, listening to those they are helping, and working closely with people to make a difference.
If there is something that sets the TASIS Dorado student body apart, it is their willingness to participate. By showing up and engaging in the activities held by the student council, students will demonstrate commitment to our community.
Above all else, the Executive Board wants to make sure our student body’s voice is heard. We, the Student Council, are very excited and grateful to represent you. This year’s Executive Board is composed of me, Mariana Inclán, Elena Pietrantoni, our VP, Tobias Luxembourg, our secretary, Catalina Quiñones, our Treasurer, Arturo Marxuach, our Historian, and Marilola Alameda, our Public Relation Specialist. You may reach out to us anytime with questions, suggestions, or anything else you might need. We have also included a Google form in our Student Council Website so that you may give us feedback or suggestions on anything we do. And, of course, you also have your class Boards who are there to listen to you and communicate with us. Teachers, we would also like to hear from you. Please email us your concerns and suggestions, too. We are looking forward to implementing all the ideas everyone in our school gives us.
As students, we need to follow the guidelines and expectations established by TASIS Dorado. This year, we have a few changes, so please listen carefully. Tomorrow, we will all talk about the Honor Code, but today, we want to make sure that everyone follows the correct uniform guidelines. Here is a reminder about the do’s and don'ts regarding our uniforms
Do’s:
From A to E days:
You can wear a polo or oxford shirt with blue pants, shorts, skirts or skorts. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. If you wear pants or shorts, a belt is required, which must be solid black, brown, or navy.
Socks should be white, gray, red, navy, black, or brown in either ankle, crew, or knee styles. Shoes or sneakers can be white, gray, red, navy, black, or brown.
Outerwear on A through E-Days can be TASIS-branded sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, or jackets with our crest or bear mascot or college-branded sweatshirts and hoodies.
Seniors must follow the same guidelines; however, they have the privilege of wearing shoes coordinated with the color of their Senior Oxford shirt.
On F days you must wear your skirt, skorts or long pants with your oxford shirt tucked in and a black, brown, or navy belt. Shoes or sneakers must also be black, brown, or navy. Outerwear on F-Days must ONLY be TASIS-branded sweaters, crew sweatshirts, or jackets with our embroidered crest. College sweatshirts are prohibited on F-Days.

Dear TASIS Family:
I am so grateful to be standing here today to celebrate this year's student council inductees. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special moment in your life.
Being part of the Student Council comes with great honor and responsibility, which I know you will all adhere to. You are the voice of your class. Although it is not an easy job, one is capable of achieving great things with the right dedication and motivation. It will be an experience that challenges you as it will occupy much of your time, but in my experience, the things that challenge you the most are the things you end up learning the most from. With that being said, if you organize yourself, everything is possible. As I take the time to reflect on my years at TASIS, I would say that the one thing I will take with me into the future is the memories and experiences gained from being part of the student council. When I started high school, I could have never imagined giving this speech. I used to be unable to stand in front of more than six people without wanting to leave the room. Student Council has allowed me to face my fears and grow both as a leader and an individual. I admire all of you greatly for choosing to run for the student council and be the voice of your class. Seize this chance to expand your leadership skills. Being part of the student council molds you into a better person by allowing you to uncover and share your admirable traits with the community. Everybody has a different experience being part of the student council. Make sure you are the one behind the steering wheel and make the best out of your time in StuCo because it all goes by extremely fast.
Now, my fellow students, we, the council, have a mission this year to be Inspired by our legacies to create new memories. It is important to honor the past to move forward with the present. You may already be familiar with this year’s theme, CORE Year. This year, the Student Council will work to celebrate and see the school’s core values of courage, kindness, integrity, humility, and commitment reflected within the student body during every StuCo activity. This year, we want to encourage you all to participate and share your talents with the rest of the student body. We aim to make the school an environment where students feel comfortable being themselves and pursuing their passions.
Last year, we incorporated monthly contests. These contests were so successful and amazing representations of the talents of the student body that we have decided to continue to implement the Logo Contests throughout this academic year. In a school that provides students with abundant chances to delve into their passions, we feel it is the student council’s responsibility to participate in that endeavor by demonstrating students' passions and talents. These contests strengthen the school community by fostering student creativity and collaboration. By participating in these contests students not only develop their creativity but also build a sense of school pride that creates a positive and inclusive environment. Winners of these contests will be announced via social media, morning announcements, and Final Fridays. Make sure you are on the lookout to see if one of these contests is the one for you.
Finally, it is of utmost importance that you communicate with us if you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions. Feel free to approach anyone on the stage if you have something to say. We will be delighted to help you. We are here to listen and serve you. You can email us anytime at studentcouncil@tasisdorado.com. We have also implemented a form to our Google Sites where you can give us feedback and suggestions on anything we do. We look forward to hearing what you have to say.
We’ve been putting in a lot of effort this year to create a welcoming environment at school, but we still have a whole year ahead of us, and I am excited to see where it takes us all.
Be sure to follow our Student Council Instagram and Website to know all the latest news and announcements.
Let's continue making memories together this year to leave our legacy in TASIS history. Have a great day, and Bear Pride.

Throughout October and November, we organized a series of engaging activities to raise awareness and celebrate our school community. A key focus was honoring those affected by breast cancer. We launched October with a tulip sale in support of breast cancer awareness, leading into our impactful "Pink Week."
Pink Week was a meaningful and impactful time for our school community. Throughout the week, we organized activities to raise awareness, including casual dress days and interactive events. Students and staff proudly wore pink ribbons as a sign of solidarity, and one of the most memorable initiatives was the creation of our "Pink Tree," where students added their fingerprints as a symbol of support. We wrapped up the week with a pink casual dress day and a canteen fundraiser. All proceeds from the canteen, casual day, and tulip sale were donated to Susan G. Komen. It was inspiring to see our community come together to honor and support those affected by breast cancer.
A few weeks later, we energized our school community with a thrilling pep rally, celebrating the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes. The pep rally was filled with energy, featuring exciting games that encouraged student participation and school spirit. This event marked the official kickoff for our volleyball and soccer tournaments, a special weekend for our school community.
Another exciting highlight was the Field Day logo contest, where students showcased their creativity by submitting designs for the official event logo. This year, we received an overwhelming number of impressive submissions, making the selection process especially tough. After a thorough voting process, we are proud to announce that Sebastian Salazar, a 12th grader, won with his outstanding design. Congratulations to Sebastián, and a huge thank you to all the talented students who participated!
To wrap up the month, we hosted our Final Friday event, featuring a candy guessing contest. Both students and advisors took part in this fun and interactive challenge, with the grade that made the most accurate guess claiming the victory. The event was a great success, and the enthusiastic response from students highlighted how much everyone enjoyed it.
Overall, these past two months have been filled with memorable moments, and we can’t wait to see what exciting opportunities lie ahead!
