Alana Fuentes Lartigaut, a class of 2024 student at TASIS Dorado, has successfully completed the NatStuCo Student Leaders Program, earning national recognition as a National Student Council Distinguished Student Leader.
She’s among 800 students across the country recognized by the National Student Council and the National Association of Secondary School Principals in the highly esteemed Student Leaders Program. This program aims to enhance school efforts in nurturing student leaders, encourage students to earn recognition for their leadership abilities, provide authentic assessment and recognition, and align with the goals of the National Council of Excellence Awards and missions of the National Student Council and NASSP.
Alana has been a proud TASIS Bear since PPK, actively participating in the Student Council’s class boards since 7th grade and holding various leadership positions, including secretary, treasurer, and currently, president. She values a collaborative approach to enhance the TASIS Dorado experience, evident in this year’s StuCo theme “LEAP” (Let’s Embrace Authentic Personalities) with the slogan “Student by Chance, Family by Choice.” Alana’s dedication revolves around fostering a welcoming and supportive community, making her an approachable leader to promote a united school culture at TASIS Dorado.
Alana is a dedicated student leader actively involved in multiple extracurricular clubs and activities, such as the Spanish Honor Society, Club Comidas Comunitarias, National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Leadership Academy, and Peer Tutor. She understands the value of giving back, exemplified by her past role as Club Comidas Comunitarias president, where she organized food drives for local communities. In her Leadership Academy involvement, she orchestrated a successful Beach Tennis Tournament, raising $20,000 for a public school serving students with disabilities, thus improving their educational environment. Alana’s primary focus is fostering a supportive school culture and aiding local schools in obtaining the necessary resources for enhanced educational opportunities. Congratulations!
Three TASIS Dorado Seniors Named 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Semifinalists
TASIS Dorado is delighted to announce that three students from the Class of 2024 have been selected as Semifinalists for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Among thousands of nationwide applicants, TASIS Dorado has secured three out of the six Semifinalist positions for Puerto Rico.
Congratulations to our exceptional scholar:
Alana Fuentes
Each year, approximately 5,000 graduating seniors are chosen nationwide, selected based on SAT and ACT scores. From this pool, about 650 candidates are named Semifinalists and proceed to the Commission for further evaluation. For Puerto Rico, this translates to three boys and three girls selected as Semifinalists. Ultimately, out of these exceptional candidates, up to 161 graduating seniors are honored as Presidential Scholars nationwide, with only one being designated for Puerto Rico.
This remarkable achievement underscores the exceptional caliber of TASIS Dorado students and highlights their dedication to academic excellence and personal growth.
The National Recognition Program is held in June in Washington, D.C., to honor scholars for their remarkable achievements. This federal program has been honoring U.S. Presidential Scholars for almost 60 years and has recognized more than 8,000 scholars who have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and academic excellence and have contributed significantly to their schools and communities.
We take great pride in our students’ accomplishments and celebrate their well-deserved recognition as Semifinalists in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. We wish Alana all the best as they advance to the next phase of the program.
Congratulations on this special recognition!
