Reflections of beginnings
Natalia Nicole Pérez De León
TD StuCo President
Dear reader,
It is an absolute honor to not only be your Student Council President but also that you are reading this. The first month back has gone by in a blink of an eye yet we have done many things. We welcomed new faces into campus, welcomed you back on orientation day, played musical chairs, got inducted, received and met your parents on the Welcome Back Parent Orientation Night, and much more. In between these activities, though, the Executive Board has been meeting every lunch to plan an amazing year for you, the student body. That said I want to give you an insight into what you and this council mean to me. EVERYTHING! It fills me to plan all these activities and to feel the joy, among the students, roaming the hallways. It is our passion to do what we do 24/7. This week we have already started planning Merry Week, so we can give you an amazing, closing to the semester. The same will happen with the upcoming activities, we will work our hardest to make anything possible.
Don't forget that the student council is the link, the mediator, between the student body and administration. So please feel free to contact any of the board members if you have any ideas for activities and initiatives. What I mean by this is that your voice and input is the most important thing to us.
Have a GREAT day and BEAR PRIDE!!
Sincerely,
Your Presi
This first month has flown by...
I am Natalia Pérez, and it is with immense gratitude that I stand today as your Student Council Executive President. I also want to congratulate every Student Council member who has taken on the challenge to not only represent their class but also serve their community as passionate leaders. It takes great courage to adopt a position as a member of this council, and you should be tremendously proud of yourselves for seizing this opportunity.
I feel especially honored to serve the student body this year and work alongside every student council member, and most importantly you, the student body, to pursue this organization’s mission: to promote unity, charisma, and loyalty within the school community. Our council is committed to facilitating this transitional period for all of you and nurturing an environment where you feel supported, respected, and most importantly empowered to embrace the positive qualities that constitute your character. Though the theme of the year is ‘Cheer Year’ and we are promoting competition among the student body, we strive to uphold student well-being and encourage everyone to support and aid their peers, no matter what.
Now, beyond our mission to foster a positive school climate, the Student Council also serves to host a variety of great events throughout the year that are both enriching and fun for students. This year we are bringing back favorites like spirit week, movie night, and candy cane sale, and we will continue to support diverse organizations as part of our community service. We are adding new activities too, like Final Fridays, where we will be having Spirit Week activities throughout the year. Be prepared to compete and work with teams each last Friday of the month during the breaks of the day. The first one was musical chairs in August and it was a success, thank you all for the participation and excitement. Last Friday's activity was only in lunch, but from now on it will also be in snack and study hall. We are also eager to implement new events this school year, so please contact the board members if you have any ideas for activities we could execute throughout these following months. Your input and voice are very important to us!
I would like to thank you once again for electing me as your President and assure you that the Student Council will strive for excellence in every endeavor it takes on this year. I’m confident that this wonderful group of leaders that you have chosen as representatives will reflect the values of courage, kindness, integrity, and humility that sit at the heart of TASIS. Have a great day and bear pride!
